Situated on the campus of LSU, Pioneer Heritage Center takes a trip back across centuries to catch a glimpse of life between 1830s and the nineteenth century. The center features true-to-life displays that portray the life and times of the early settlers in the region. It houses a medical office, plantation homes and a blacksmith shop. Sci-Port Louisiana’s Science Center features over 290 interesting exhibits on science, space, math and technology. Roam around the galleries and check out the interactive exhibits and indulge in scientific activities. The museum also hosts multitude of events all year round related to science. Get more scientific enlightenment at the center’s Sawyer Space Dome Planetarium and an IMAX Dome Theatre, which shows films on different scientific topics and subjects. Housed in a neo-classical style building, the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum features the different aspects of Louisiana history and development through rotating exhibits and dioramas. It features art pieces of prehistoric period, artifacts of Louisiana’s most high-profile figures, several rotating exhibits, and eighteen world renewed dioramas portraying the life and commerce in the state. Highlight of the museum is the Caddo Indians collection, including a cypress dugout dating to 1065 A.D. History, culture, science and technology intertwine at this museum!

If you’re an art lover, swing by the R.W. Norton Art Gallery. The gallery features the finest artwork, photographs and paintings. J. Bennett Johnston Waterway Regional Visitor Center features the Red River history. It chronicles the story of how the Corps of Engineers worked to clear the river for navigation, exploration and recreation. The Shreveport Municipal Auditorium is a concert and meeting venue where Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, Elvis Presley, and several other legends of the 50s and 60s created history by drawing large number of visitors to the area. The auditorium hosts live local concerts, touring acts, sporting events, debutante balls, parties and much more. 
Music fans and history lovers will lover the Stage of Stars and Legends Museum at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. The museum honors the performers and entertainers who started their career on the stage. Lead Belly, James Burton, and Elvis Presley are among the artists featured in this museum. The museum has photos, personal items, musical instruments and memorabilia of the Louisiana Hayride- a radio show broadcast from from the late 1940s to the early 70s.  Hear the story of every star performer at this museum!

Shreveport is home to the Gardens of the American Rose Center, which is the largest park of roses in the nation. It features staggering 20,000 rose bushes and over 65 different rose gardens. Connect with nature Walter B Jacobs Memorial Nature Park!

Walter B Jacobs Memorial Nature Park possesses 5 miles of walking/hiking trails and picnic areas. The trails are as inviting and fun as the pine-oak-hickory forest in which they are.  Inside are exhibits of animals and birds. They have everything from live alligator to touching snake, and hands-on nature education. The scenery is a nice break from all the hustle and bustle of the city. There are lots of photo opportunities, do get your camera.
